Lowie Live presents Paper Jane and Alison Ferrier & the Upshots
Alison Ferrier & the Upshots
Alison Ferrier & the Upshots
Melbourne’s own singer/songwriter/guitarist Alison Ferrier with her fabulous band the Upshots; Dave Folley on drums, Alics Gate-Eastley holding down the low end and Jeff Lang on electric guitar. Expect to hear sublime three-part harmonies and influences of folk, blues, country and rock.
“Country punk, rock and blues, meets folkish melancholy and gingham country with a dash of double denim '70s sweetness.
The songwriting is better than merely solid, but what sealed the deal for me was just how inviting Ferrier's voice is.” Bernard Zuel
Alison Ferrier delivers an evocative, emotive, crafted collection of atmospheric folk, laid-back country and hypnotic blues. Her lyrically rich, slow-build numbers showcase her talent for melody, and her vocals are effortlessly refined with conviction and vulnerability in equal measure
Paper Jane
Paper Jane the hard working, deeply sinful alt country rock band play the Lomond Hotel Saturday April 19. Some describe Paper Jane as the “sumptuous Chinese meal” of Melbourne Americana.
Singer songwriter Buck Edwards has a power-house twin turbo vocal range that leaves his audience wanting for nothing. Dom Redfern, the band’s bass playing Dalai Llama holds it all together with our new drummer Michaela Burke, wearing her smart- arse grin and described by audiences as a pocket rocket for her crisp and muscular playing. Scotty ‘Crying in the streets’ Jansen, a gypsy fiddle genius completes the line up.
Unearthed in 2013 following their debut. Shortlisted for best regional act in the 2022 Music Vic Awards after the release of their second LP ‘Across the Reservoir’. Paper Jane leaves the sounds exposed for the listener, joyous & evocative. Musical highs and lows that command attention and move you to your core.
