The Danny Walsh Banned are hosting a birthday bonanza of live music and stories at the Lomond Hotel, Brunswick East for their esteemed septuagenarian keyboard player Leo ‘The Weed’ Tellefson OAM and you’re all invited.
The show will open with ‘Blend It’ featuring The Weed up front delivering his brand of piano driven country rock n roll, that has entertained regional Victorians from the local dance and footy club cabaret era of the 70’s, to the most recent ‘OK Motels’ festival scene from the back of a Bedford rolling around the streets of Charlton.
Then, the Danny Walsh Banned, will perform their brand-new album ‘No Monument’ live - the album marks the Banned ’s first full-length release since the acclaimed In the Wimmera (2020) and expands their singular vision of Australian storytelling into stranger, wider terrain.
No Monument dives deep into outsider folklore and untold stories that sit between the cracks of Australian history — tales of outcasts, drifters, the homeless, and voices half-heard on late-night regional radio, when the dial isn’t quite tuned in. These are songs overheard at the bar of a country pub or carried across a long night drive through broken landscapes, told with humour, grit, and a restless sense of wonder.
